The Perfect Package
A neck lift is a surgery that enhances the allure of the neck by removing excess skin, fat, and muscle. It is typically performed to address sagging skin, loose neck muscles, and excess fat in the neck and under the chin. With a neck lift Charlotte patients can create a smoother, more defined neck and jawline, resulting in a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance.
Dr. Augenstein specializes in deep plane neck lifts, a more advanced version of a traditional neck lift that involves a deeper adjustment of the neck tissues to achieve more dramatic and longer-lasting results. Most of our patients pair their neck lifts with a facelift to create a well-balanced appearance that leaves them looking younger and healthier.
Define and Contour
A deep plane neck lift can significantly improve the contour of the neck. This can result in a younger, more defined neck and jawline. Because a deep plane neck lift involves a deeper adjustment of the neck tissues, it can produce more long-lasting results than a traditional neck lift. The incisions used in a deep-plane neck lift are typically smaller and more discreet than those used in a traditional neck lift, resulting in less visible scarring.
Deep plane neck lifts are safe, long-lasting, and yield natural-looking results that restore confidence. You may be a candidate for a deep plane neck lift if you are an adult experiencing sagging or excess fat around the neck. Many patients pair the neck lift with a deep plane facelift to provide an all-encompassing enhancement that will give the ultimate rejuvenation.

Kiss Sagging Skin Goodbye
You will be given general anesthesia to ensure you are comfortable and pain-free during the procedure. Charlotte neck lift expert, Dr. Augenstein, will make incisions under your chin and behind your ears to access the deep layers of the neck tissues. He will carefully adjust the skin and fat layers to access the underlying muscle layer, the platysma muscle. Dr. Augenstein will then separate and lift the platysma muscle from the overlying skin and fat. The muscle will be tightened and reshaped to create a more youthful and defined contour in the neck and jawline. If necessary, Dr. Augenstein will remove excess skin and fat from the neck area to further improve the contours. The incisions will be closed with sutures or staples, and a compression garment will be applied to help reduce swelling and promote healing.
A Work of Art
Immediate improvement will be noticeable after your neck lift. Bruising and swelling take about three weeks to begin fading, and your skin may feel tight around your neck as you get used to the sensation of your new, chiseled appearance. Full results are typically seen around four to six months after the procedure when all bruising and swelling have faded.
Have Some You Time
In the first week after the procedure, you might notice some bruising and swelling around your neck and chin. We'll give you a special compression garment that will improve the healing process and reduce swelling. It's important to keep your head raised as much as possible and to sleep on your back with a nice, comfy pillow to support your head.
Most patients return to work and a daily routine after about two weeks, though it is essential to avoid strenuous activities such as lifting heavy objects. You will notice a significant decrease in swelling and bruising after about two to three months.
While you won’t feel a thing during your procedure, you will likely experience some mild discomfort during your recovery. Using the prescribed pain medication, compression garment, and any other aftercare recommended by Dr. Augenstein will help to minimize any discomfort you may experience.
Unfortunately, neck lifts are not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding due to potential complications. Neck lifts are also not recommended for those with medical concerns that could interfere with the body’s healing process. If you are unsure whether or not you are a candidate for a neck lift, schedule your consultation with us today.
